Welcome to the Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum
The Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum is a teaching and research resource of Rice University. The Arboretum consists of a collection of woody plants and named garden spaces dispersed throughout the university campus that represent native and cultivated species that are suitable to the climate of the Houston area. As an outdoor classroom that spans the entire campus, the Arboretum supports environmentally focused curricula in biology, engineering, architecture, and literature.
Dedicated on March 18, 1999, the Arboretum honors the distinguished horticulturist, Lynn R. Lowrey, whose life and work were dedicated to spreading knowledge and appreciation for the trees and plants of the American Gulf Coast and northern Mexico.
